Was Badly Poisoned. John Anderson, one of Austin’s best known citizens, was out fishing Monday in the vicinity of Hulls, and was seriously bitten by some kind of insect that thoroughly poisoned his face and head. He returned home in the evening and his face began to swell badly and he was in much pain. Being employed in the railroad shops in this place [Emporium, PA] and on duty nights, he was obliged to leave his work at midnight and go to his home. He made external applications but to no avail, and early in the morning consulted a physician who prescribed for him and he is now doing well. At one time on Tuesday his eyes were swollen entirely shut and it was several hours before he was able to see at all. Mr. Anderson says he was either poisoned by the bite of some strange insect or else came in contact with some poisonous bush or vine. At this time he is doing well and will, we trust, entirely recover from the painful and unpleasant effects. From the Austin Republican.
