Opening new coal fields. A firm of Philadelphia coal operators has closed a deal for the purchase of 8,000 acres of coal lands in the Karthaus district. A portion of the land is in Keating township [Cameron County] and the balance of the tract in Karthaus township, Clearfield County. The land included in the deal extends from the Sinnemahoning road leading to Driftwood, to West Keating, and the whole is underlaid with a four foot vein of the finest coal in the country.
