Philadelphia special - The State Supreme Court has decided adversely to the State in the suit begun by the Attorney General to escheat to the Commonwealth a large tract of bituminous coal land in Jefferson and Elk counties owned by the New York, Lake Erie & Western Railroad. The case has been in litigation seven years. The State sought to confiscate the lands under an old law limiting the holdings of real estate in Pennsylvania by foreign corporations. The decision was not unanimous, but it will confirm the Erie in its title.  (Wall Street Journal, 25 March 1891)
